Restaurants a Nice

Right after the hotel business comes catering as one of the main strengths of Nice, counting hundreds of brands; from small local restaurants up to the most beautiful starred establishments and international dishes, there is something for every taste and in any flavor.

But when coming to Nice, tasting its own cuisine is definitely a must. In fact, Nicoise gastronomy is one of the only two cuisines named after their town of origin, the other one being its Lyonnais colleague. The highlight is, of course, the famous Salade Niçoise (Nicoise Salad) known throughout the world and made up of tomatoes, white onions (cébettes), garlic, pepper, basil, anchovy, and Nice olives. Other delicious recipes await you in the traditional restaurants, such as the pissaladiere (a kind of pie with onions and anchovy), farcis niçois (stuffed veggies), gnocchi, tourte de blette (a Swiss chard tart), Stokfish (cooked cod-fish with tomatoes and olives) or the traditional socca (a chick-pea flour cake baked in a wood-fired oven). If in a hurry and there is no time to take a seat, Pan Bagnat is always an option; it is a sandwich made with round bread and served with Nicoise Salad.
